Well I slept in until 11 am today. I am so going to be hurtin' on Monday when I go back to work. The thing is my cat slept with me all night and she rarely does that so I wanted to take advantage of it. Maybe she's worried I will turn her in for a better model. (Kidding!) I'm not sure why she doesn't sleep with me anymore but she doesn't and it sucks.
But I did run. I figured I was already late getting going so what's an hour added onto it.
Temperature: -24 C (-11.2 F) with windchill of -33 C (-27.4) It went down to -35 C (-31 F) last night. Brrrrr cold. See good thing I have a treadmill.
Saturday Jan 3
11:00 am
Treadmill
2.2 K (1.36 miles)
5 sets of 3 with 1 minute walk breaks. 5 minute cool down but only 2 minutes warm up
Felt ok. The muscle in the back of my thigh is sore tho for some reason.
Watched Alias S2, Episode 4 (and the last bit of Ep 3)
note: this is my third straight day running. Ok it's not much but for me it's pretty good. My plan is to continue next week with the 5 sets of 3 and then the week after increase to the 4 minute with 1 minute walk break (I think it's 4 times). I'm not sure how I'm going to work the logistics of running before work as I take a very long time to get ready but I should be able to do it. I mean other people do it. I'll worry about what to do if I have to shovel when it happens. I guess I could wait until I get home to shovel. hmmm.

Well I'm resurrecting my blog. Wow I'm amazed I found it. I can't think of a cool and witty name for a new one so I'll just use this one. It will be more about me than Samantha tho. Her life isn't too exciting. LOL
I need to make some changes in my life. I'm really inspired by my friend who goes running every single morning and is now running 6 K with ease. I'm still struggling with 3 and 1's and needless to say I'm not up to 6 K. :( But then again I only run once a month. LOL I'm hoping that if I keep a record that is easy to update and see the progress maybe I'll keep at it. I really have no excuses - I do own a treadmill after all. And I really should use the blasted thing.
My goal is to run (or walk) 5 days a week. My plan is to get up in the morning to run before work. That will be tough. But if I wait and try to go after work it never happens and I know that. I've been experimenting with running in the morning on my days off and amazingly I'm not that tired in the afternoon anymore. Anyhow I will try for 5 days a week - and it can be any five. 2 weekend days and 3 work days or 4 work days and one weekend days - whatever. Maybe in the process I'll actually lose some weight too. That would be really nice.
So I'm going to post a progress (but not my weight - eek! - although perhaps just if I lose weight - how many pounds ;) ) on the running on here. I may not do it every day but I'll try to update it regularly.

And here is my gratuitous kitty photo. She got weighed today and weights 10.4 lbs. She was 11.4 lbs over the summer. I'm not sure how accurate my method of holding her and weighing us on my scale and then weighing me and subtracting the two is tho.
